FIORE
A flower - once picked - clings to life.
Gaining richness in maturity that youth cannot possess.
Revealing its true character in aging.
Holding onto beauty and dignity as it dies.
Only to see - but for a moment - the seed that it leaves behind.
My project "Fiore" is subjectively personal. It is my own observations in aging and how everyone ages differently.
At birth is when we all begin the aging process. It is then nurtured throughout one's life and gains richness in maturity. We not only age physically but we also age mentally. These stages in our lives are necessary in order to reveal our true character. I relate this notion through my photographs of dying flowers. Once picked a flower clings to life. Some shed their petals and wither while others hold onto to them and stand tall. Some flowers dry up yet still retain their beauty while others slump over from the weight they have carried. Our life experiences and characters play an important role in our aging process.
I try to evoke some thoughts into how we all will enter and physically age in our final stages of life through this series of dying flowers.
